Highfield Kennel

Highfield Kennels will make every effort to make your dogs stay happy and we will look after your dog’s health and safety while you are away. All dogs are boarded entirely at their owner’s risk. We reserve the right to refuse admission at any time without giving a reason.

Full daily rate applies to all days booked which includes arrival and departure, regardless of time collected.

Vaccinations

All dogs accepted into Highfield Kennels must show a valid up-to-date vaccination certificate. We recommend that dogs be vaccinated. Copies are retained on each individual dog’s file. Vaccinations including boosters must have been completed two weeks before a dog’s arrival to the Kennels to maintain full cover. Please note if it is your dog’s first round of vaccinations, it will take one month after the second vaccination to become fully protected. We regret that we will not be able to accept unneutered male dogs over the age of eight months.

Flea and Worming Treatment

Clients are asked to confirm that their dog is protected against parasites and to give consent if any are found on their dog during boarding. We reserve the right to administer the appropriate treatment with veterinary advice. The client will be responsible for the cost.

Sharing Accommodations

Dogs from the same household can share a unit but must have written consent from the owner before the date of arrival. However, if it is felt necessary to split the animals due to concerns by the Kennels Staff, the additional cost will be covered by the dog owner at the time of departure.

Your Booking

Bookings are not confirmed until a 25% deposit has been paid, which is due at the time of submitting the Booking Form. Boarding rates are charged at a full-day rate to include the day of arrival & departure. A deposit must be paid at the time of booking by debit card, credit card or cash. Deposit payment may also be made by bank transfer but must include your surname and arrival date as the payment reference.

Once the booking deposit has been made to Highfield Kennels, Full payment of the remaining balance is required before the date of arrival.

Cancellations/ Changes to your booking

You can confirm that you agree that if you cancel your booking for whatever reason, your deposit is non-refundable. If for some reason you have an unexpected early return \ collection date, there will be no refunds or credits for last-minute changes. Late collections will be subject to additional charges which must be paid on the day of collection. Long extensions to boarding must be paid for at the time of request by card payment. We do not accept American Express.

Please Note: We do not accept cheques for payments.

The minimum stay/ charge throughout the year is 3 days at regular price and anything less will have a separate rate.

The minimum stay over the Christmas period is 7 days and the boarding dates must include December 23 – 28.

Bedding and Toys

We supply cozy beds and scratching posts with cubbies, also plenty of toys to keep them entertained. If you feel your pet will be more comfortable with their own personal items, we are happy for you to bring them along. Any bedding, toys medication or personal items supplied by the owner that become damaged/destroyed by the animals or any member of staff during boarding, are left at the owner’s risk.

Diet

We strongly recommend your Pet be kept on the same diet. If Highfield Kennels does not stock the food you feed, it is your responsibility to supply enough food for the duration of your Pet’s stay. If you do not supply the regular food your pet eats, Highfield Kennels are not held liable for any conditions resulting from the change of diet. If insufficient food is supplied at the start of their stay you agree to refund the carer or Highfield Kennels costs incurred purchasing more food.

Emergencies

In case of emergency, the person you have chosen, yourself and the designated veterinary surgeon will be contacted via telephone, text and email. Advising your vet beforehand of the dates your pet will be boarding with us is recommended.

Whilst every care will be given to pets, Highfield Kennels will not be held responsible for any illness, injury, loss or damages to the animal(s) or their belongings, however caused during their stay. Boarding is entirely at the owner’s risk.

In the unlikely event that your dog becomes unwell during their stay, we will contact the vet whom you have provided on the form. If they are not able to be contacted or cannot help your pet will be treated by our designated veterinary surgeon. We do not insure for your pet’s illness or any other medical conditions whilst in our care. Any further expenses will be charged to the owner. By signing this agreement, you agree to cover any costs that arise from veterinary treatment, and we reserve the right to charge transport and time expenses. We may call you from the vet’s surgery before treatment is commenced.

THE OWNER accepts that a veterinary surgeon will be called if Highfield Kennels thinks it necessary & any resulting fees not covered by insurance will be payable by THE OWNER at the time of collection.

During the period of boarding, Highfield Kennels will exercise every possible care and attention to the welfare and safety of the pet; however, Highfield Kennels accepts no responsibility for problems outside of its control.

Medication

If your dog is on any form of medication, this will be administered following your instructions. We encourage you to keep prescriptions in their original containers which will confirm correct medication and dosage. There is a £1 per day charge for administering medicine.

Medications will be stored safely at the correct temperature in the Kennels kitchen and all unused medicines will be returned to the owner on departure.

If your dog becomes ill while at the Kennels:

If your dog becomes ill at the Kennels, the licence holder will report any concern over health to the owner or nominated contact person. It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that somebody can advocate for their dog and is able to respond to us immediately in the case of an emergency. If we cannot contact the owner or advocate, and we believe that the dog requires urgent medical attention, we will make an appointment with our approved vet and refer all decisions to them.

We are not financially responsible for any medical bills that arise during your dog’s stay at the Kennels. All veterinary fees are the responsibility of the client and will be payable at the time of departure.

Please note that on the following public holidays we are closed for arrivals and departures.
